Batt Children Take on International Chess Player

On Friday, members of Chess Club arrived to face their greatest challenge yet! Awaiting them was Mark Hannon, an international level chess player, who had agreed to play fourteen simultaneous matches. This would be a daunting prospect for any player but the children rose to the challenge and played extremely well. Although no one managed to defeat Mark, congratulations to Will who managed to extend his match until 4.15pm. We would like to say a huge thank you to Mark for taking the time to visit us and to Tim Partridge, who not only arranged this event, but gives up his time every week to teach chess to newcomers and tutor our more experienced players.
