Boccia County Finals

Boccia County Finals

Having had success at the West Oxfordshire tournament earlier in the year, the upper junior Boccia Team headed off to the lovely venue of St Helen and St Katharine’s school to compete against the very best teams in the county.

There was much to live up to as in the past couple of years our teams had picked up gold and silver in this competition. Playing in a round robin tournament against seven other teams, The Batt started in what was a cagey game against St Joseph’s with The Batt winning a couple of ends and St Joseph’s returning the favour to end up with a 3-3 draw in the first match. This was followed by two losses to Hook Norton and Caldecott as the radar went a bit wayward and dreams of returning with a medal were fading fast.

After a bit of a team talk from Ben, The Batt then went on the rampage, winning games against Holy Trinity, Appleton, Thomas Reade and Dunmore, scoring 24 points and only conceding 3 to give themselves overall stats of winning 4, drawing 1 and losing 2. With the points tallied The Batt school team completed their collection by picking up the bronze medal to cap off what was a superb event played in great spirit. Congratulations to Chloe, Ben Josh M and Josh K for achieving another great result for themselves and the school.
