County Cross Country Finals

On what can only be described as Monsoon like conditions, The Batt set off on their travels to Tilsley Park on Tuesday to compete in the annual County Cross Country Finals, with the Upper Junior girls team qualifying along with Will as the individual runner.

Having walked the course and spotting the potential slippery areas, The girls team were first to take to the starting line. Having to run 2.1km along concrete, grass, mud and through woodland, the girls persevered despite being soaked to the bone and as they eclipsed from the woodland towards the home straight, the first Batt girl through was Katie who finished in a fantastic 5th position.

Will was up next and with a nervous focus, he set off at a blistering pace to ensure he did not get boxed in. Having seen the Batt colours emerging from the woodland in first place, it was in no doubt as Will had amassed at least 150m lead over second place to dominate proceedings and claim his gold medal.

Well done to all the runners in what was extremely adverse conditions.
