Football League 30th October

The Batt School football team opened up their league account playing host to a Ducklington team who had won their previous match 7-2.

On a tight pitch, space was at a premium and the early exchanges saw very little time on the ball for either team with some firm tackles coming, fast closing down. Ducklington managed to strike the first shot on target which Caitlin gathered without too much trouble, then, on the break an early ball in from Alfie on the wing was met with a good connection from Charlie M but the Ducklington keeper saved well. With half time approaching Charlie B found some space in the middle of the pitch, dribbled past two players and let off a rasping shot which the Ducklington keeper did well to parry away, however Will S was the quickest player to react and slotted home to give The Batt a half time lead.

The second half followed in much the same vein as the first with chances not coming very often but Caitlin again kept The Batt in the match with a fantastic double save to deny the Ducklington forward and the game finished 1-0.

Congratulations to all for the perfect start to the league campaign!
