Girls' Football League

Girls' Football League V Tower Hill 6th March

The girls opened up their league campaign against a talented and determined Tower Hill team at the fortress known as The Batt School Playing Field.

The Batt quickly got into their stride, passing and moving into space superbly and managed to get early shots on goal, forcing the Tower Hill goalkeeper to make some great saves. The pressure from The Batt finally told after a long throw in from Eleanor was met with a first time strike from Bethany, who swept the ball low into the corner of the net. 1-0.

Tower Hill started to find their feet in the game and with a couple of long range strikes put The Batt defence under pressure and only some fine saves from Martha S prevented Tower Hill from scoring. Whilst Tower Hill were pressing, The Batt caught out the Tower Hill defence with a quick break, ending up with Eve converting for The Batt’s second goal from close range. 2-0

Tower Hill continued to press and their persistence paid off when number 4 hit a fierce shot which blasted into the back of the Batt’s goal just before half time. 2-1

The second half continued in the same style as the first but with Caitlin now in goal and some fine saves produced from both teams, the final score stayed 2-1 to The Batt.

Congratulations to all involved in a great game of football!
