Girls' Football League V Aston 22nd March

The girls' great form continues

The girls' first road trip of their campaign took them over the rolling hills to Aston and Cote School. After a warm up which included a play on Aston’s climbing equipment they soon settled down to the job in hand.

The Batt flew out of the traps with a tackle from Aston’s kick off and this lighting pace continued with early passing and link up play creating a chance for Eve within the first couple of minutes which she converted by neatly tucking the ball into the bottom corner, 1-0.

Martha S’s domination in midfield helped to ensure the ball rarely made it into The Batt half and a quick through ball and low strike from Bethany doubled the lead just before the end of the first half, 2-0

Aston started the second half with more conviction and only some fantastic double saves from Caitlin prevented Aston from scoring. As Aston pushed on, inevitably The Batt found space behind the defence which Eve took advantage of to score her second of the match, 3-0.

Aston pulled a goal back despite Caitlin saving the initial shot only to find the Aston number 7 following up, 3-1. However The Batt retained their three goal cushion when Bethany’s first time strike into the top corner added her second goal for the match, 4-1.

Congratulations to all involved and we now look forward to the draw for the semi-final.
