National Curriculum

All schools in England are required to teach the contents of the government's National Curriculum, re-written in September 2013 and updated again in may 2015, as the basis for their own curriculum. The National Curriculum provides an outline of core knowledge around which teachers can develop exciting and stimulating lessons to promote the development of pupils’ knowledge, understanding and skills as part of the wider school curriculum.

As a school we are constantly reviewing and updating what, when and how we teach our broad and balanced curriculum. Although the government's curriculum is detailed for certain subjects, it still gives schools the flexibility both to add to the content and to make decisions as to how their curriculum should be taught.
