Netball

Hi 5 Netball Tournament at Wood Green School 21st Feb.

For the first time ever, The Batt School managed to field four teams entering into a tournament. With games played at various locations on the on the north side of Witney, the school teams arrived with en mass.

The A team competed against teams from Madley Brook, Queen Emmas, Blake, North Leigh and Witney CP.  Winning four out of their five games and only conceding three goals in the process and scoring 21 they eventually finished second in their group, beaten only by The Blake who topped the group and were the eventual winners of the A tournament.

The B team played a round robin tournament against five other teams, winning three games, drawing one and losing one. In the process they scored ten only conceded one goal in the final game and despite a concerted effort peppering the opposition’s goal with attempts the ball would not go through the net! They eventually finished third in the tournament.

The C team also played in a round robin against three other teams and just like the B’s they also only conceded one goal, scoring seven themselves. Unfortunately the goal they conceded meant that they lost that game to the eventual winners, The Blake, having won their two previous games. Second place for the C team.

The D team had the unfortunate draw of joining the A tournament but despite this they played some excellent netball in their group stage only losing by one goal in two of their games. They won one of their games against The Blake B, however did not progress through the group stage.

Huge congratulations to all involved for taking part in a fantastic festival of netball and thank you to all the extra staff who gave up their time to manage all the teams
