Netball League Final May 18

Netball League Final

Having topped their group, The Batt Netball team took the short trip over to Queen Emma’s School on a warm May day, where they would play in a three way final versus the hosts and West Witney School, both of which had finished top in their respective groups.

The opening game saw The Batt take on Queen Emma’s and in typical Batt fashion a slow start ensued. A struggle to keep possession saw The Batt behind at half time by a score of 6-2. A few changes and a half time team talk ensured The Batt flew out of the blocks for the start of the second. A dominating display in the centre from Will and with Lydia scoring virtually every shot she took meant the swing was huge and The Batt ran out 14-7 winners, scoring 12 in the second half and only conceding 1.

The Batt then took on a physically dominant West Witney side and the now notorious Batt slow start took place again with West Witney racing into a half time lead 8-4. With changes needed once more Jacob then kept the West Witney shooters quiet for the second half and Martha, Lydia then Olivia all found their scoring boots to take the game by the slenderest of margins, eventually winning 9-8 to successfully defend their league title.

Congratulations to all that have been involved in the league campaign, especially those in the final!
