Netball League v Our Lady of Lourdes

Netball League v Our Lady Of Lourdes 26/2

The Batt School netball team opened the defence of their netball league title against Our Lady of Lourdes with a home advantage on their freshly painted pitch. The elements were a little harsh as the snow had started to fall just before the start of the game.

The Batt started play, unusually quick off the blocks and some swift passing combined with great spatial awareness meant the ball was rarely out of Our Lady’s goal area. With some adept shooting from Lydia also, The Batt had raced into a 5-0 lead within five minutes. To ensure that the substitutes did not turn into frozen statues, the changes were then made and Our Lady’s found more possession but without converting their chances, were still way behind the scoring rate. A couple more swift plays and with further goals from Olivia C and Alfie realised The Batt a half time lead by 8 goals to 2.

The second half again saw Our Lady’s grow a little more in confidence but Harvey and Daisy stood rock solid in defence to deny them many chances to score. With players starting to feel the arctic blast, the game slowed a little and when the full time whistle blew The Batt ran out comfortable winners 11-4.

Congratulations to Alfie, Jacob, Harvey, Lydia, Daisy, Alex, Olivia and Natahlia for a great start to the defence of our title.
