Quadkids County Finals

Both our upper and lower juniors attended the prestigious Quadkid Athletics County Finals at Tilsey Park last Friday where upon arrival they were greeted with an opening ceremony of poems and dance from various schools across the county and a brief talk from a member of Team GB’s 2012 beach volleyball team.

Competing in the four disciplines, sprint, distance run, vortex howler throw and long jump, in a decathlon style points accumulation, against nine other of the best schools in the county was always going to be a tough challenge. As always both The Batt School teams took this in their stride and produced their best possible performances on the day with many first places across both upper and lower, boys and girls races.

When the points had been totalled, the lower juniors were placed in an excellent seventh with 1412 points, only 42 points off third place. The upper juniors bettered their result from last year, coming in a fantastic silver medal, second place with 1767 points just 29 points behind the winners, Goring.

A huge well done to all involved but a particular mention should go to Martha S who scored the third most points for any girl in the county and David O who was the top point scorer out of the whole county, coming first in three out of the four discliplines.
