West Oxfordshire Sports Hall Athletics Final

West Oxfordshire Sports Hall Athletics Final

Following on from a successful defence of our Witney Partnership athletics tournament during the previous month, our Sports Hall Athletics team headed off to Carterton Community College to try and win the West Oxfordshire title for the third year in a row.

Competing against six other schools from the region, our 20 pupils competed in a variety of field events, including distance and height jumps, javelin and chest push throws. The events also comprised of track events, consisting of relays and obstacle races.

Both boys and girls were quick off the blocks, winning their respective obstacle races and both having great results in the sprint relays. However Woodstock Primary School were hot on the heels of The Batt and with the uncertainty of how the field events were going, The Batt had to keep trying their hardest in the track events.

With eight wins out of a possible twelve in the track events and four 1st’s and four 2nd’s in the field events, The Batt managed to retain their title by nearly forty points with Woodstock in second place.

Huge congratulations to all The Batt’s athletes who now progress through to the county finals at The Leys Pool and leisure Centre on the 19th April.
