Witney Partnership Netball Tournament

Witney Partnership Netball Tournament

On Tuesday The Batt entered 3 teams into the Witney Schools Netball tournament which proved logistically challenging as the A’s were playing at Wood Green courts, B’s at Madley Brook School and C’s in Wood Green sports hall.

The C team played in a round robin tournament beating North Leigh 2-0, then a close fought victory, 1-0 versus West Witney. The pattern followed with another 2-0 victory against Witney CP. The last game in the group played out versus local rivals The Blake ended in a close possession game but with a 3-0 score line The Blake ended the match and tournament victorious with The Batt C taking a well deserved runners up spot.

The B team headed off to the Madley Brook courts, playing in a small group of 3. Their first game versus North Leigh saw The Batt dominate territory for the first half of the game, with The Batt cruising into a 4-0 lead, North Leigh then pulled back with a couple of late goals to make the score line more respectable. Madley Brook came next and with Daisy dominating in defence a 3-0 victory to The Batt followed. Winning our group a semi final versus The Blake followed and with a single goal from Alex ensured a passage to the final. West Witney were the opponents for the final and with Louis dominating the centre and Darcy on prime scoring form, The Batt B were undefeated B team champions.

The A team tournament took place at the Wood Green courts with three pools of three teams. The Batt opened their account with a hard fought win against Ducklington, 4-3. The Batt then took on Queen Emmas with a commanding performance, winning 6-1. Having topped their group The Batt then went on to the final group of three teams, playing West Witney first, a tough, physical match ensued with West Witney winning by a slender margin. The Batt then took on The Blake and with tired legs from the previous match, The Blake dominated possession to win, leaving The Batt in bronze medal position for the tournament.

Congratulations to all involved in a great tournament!
