Witney Partnership Year 5/6 Quad Kids Tournament

A mix of our year 5’s and 6’s headed off to Wood Green school on Monday to take part in the Quad Kid Athletics Tournament where the children took part in four events, consisting of a 75m sprint, 600m run, standing long jump and a vortex howler throw.

Competing against ten other schools from the Witney Partnership the first event The Batt took part in was the vortex howler throw. After the initial throw from David landed past the tape measure, there was then a pause as the organisers went to find a longer tape!  With a distance of 36.7m for the boys and 22.7m for the girls, Joe and Martha set the tone for The Batt.

The sprints then followed, with The Batt winning the majority of the races, the points were racking up consistently. Following this the long jump took place and with all five of the boys clearing the 2 metre mark and Martha being one of only two girls to clear the magic 2 metres, The Batt were in pole position running into the last, 600m run event. In an energy sapping final event The Batt children continued to dominate in their races with many top 5 finishers out of 20 plus runners.

With the final points tallied, David and Joe finished 1st and 2nd overall out of over 100 competitors with Martha topping the chart for the girls. With four athletes reaching the gold level, three the silver and two for bronze, The Batt were clear winners by over 300 points from second place to win and qualify through for the West Oxfordshire event next month.

Huge Congratulations to all involved for excellent athletic prowess!
