Witney Schools' Hockey Tournament

Witney Schools’ Hockey Tournament

Batt’s A team visited Wood Green School yesterday to face off against eight other teams from the Witney Partnership hoping to secure a place in the next round.

Starting off in groups of three, The Batt’s first opponent was Madley Brook School. The players made sure they closed down the early encounters and pressed into Madley’s territory, which paid off as Dylan weaved through into the “D” and slotted home from close range. The Batt never took their foot off the gas and another goal from Dylan and a brace for both Olivia and Will completed a 6-0 win. Then followed Ducklington, and this was a much closer game, with The Batt dominating territory once more but Ducklington’s defence stood firm for a 0-0 finish. However, The Batt topped the group and proceeded through to the winner’s pool.

The first game in this pool was against The Blake who caught The Batt, napping, early on to score within the first minute and despite consistent pressure from The Batt and The Blake’s goalkeeper pulling off some great saves, the game ended 1-0 to The Blake. This was followed by a 2-0 loss to a strong Aston side who eventually ended up the competition winners.

Congratulations to all for finishing in a great third place, playing some fantastic hockey in the process.
