Love Everyone, Love the Adventure of Learning
The Batt is an inclusive and nurturing school, guided by Christ’s teaching on love through the parable of the Good Samaritan. We enable everyone in our community to flourish by encouraging supportive friendships, respect for self and others and perseverance in all things. This develops a life-long love of learning and commitment to service.
‘Love your neighbour, as you love yourself’ Luke 10:27
Our Vision Explained
Our Vision for The Batt grows from Christ's teaching ‘Love your neighbour, as you love yourself’ (Luke 10:27) and the parable of The Good Samaritan. It reflects our inclusive ethos and commitment to ensuring that all in our school community can flourish though a life dedicated to love, learning and service.
Our vision also celebrates our connection with the Batt family who founded The Batt Trust, which gave the land for our school to be built in 1928. This local family, with generations of doctors and surgeons, devoted themselves to the service of others and their family memorial in St Mary's Church recalls the story of The Good Samaritan.

Our values enable us to live our vision and are at the heart of all that we do. We hope that visitors will see our values reflected in school and that we all take them with us beyond the school gates.
At the Batt School, our core Christian values are:
Love
We are guided by Christ's teaching on love. Love underpins everything we do and is evident in our relationships with each other and our actions to support our community and our world.
‘Love your neighbour, as you love yourself’ Luke 10:27
Respect
We are an inclusive school, valuing respect for ourselves and others and valuing diversity and inclusion.
‘So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.’ Matthew 7:12
Friendship
We enable everyone in our community to flourish by encouraging supportive friendships that help us to grow and value each individual.
'Encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.' 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Perseverence
We encourage all to have self belief in order to keep on going and to speak out for what we believe is right, reflecting upon God's persevering love.
'Those who trust the LORD will find new strength. They will be strong like eagles soaring upward on wings; they will walk and run without getting tired.' Isaiah 40:29-31
“We have been parents at The Batt School for 10 years, both our children have thrived in the school community and treated as individuals for their learning needs to ensure progress. The Batt always offers new opportunities to build children’s confidence and skills. All staff are professional and caring to go the extra mile. It’s a special place and provides strong foundations for the start of any child’s learning journey, along with in bedding values to take into adult life.”
