Proudly working in partnership with St Mary's CE Infant School
Two highly regarded schools, one great education
The Batt CE Primary and St Mary’s CE Infant Schools have shared their school communities over many decades, with children from St Mary’s Infants moving to join those at The Batt at the beginning of their junior phase.
Since 2015 the schools have worked more closely as part of the Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust and more recently with a joint local governing body and a shared senior leadership team.
Both school communities have significantly benefited from this closer working relationship (as has been identified in recent inspection visits). Working together has ensured greater consistency in curriculum and learning and high expectations across both schools. It also allows us to for share staff strengths and expertise and brings broader curriculum opportunities for all children.
We are now beginning the next exciting stage in The Batt and St Mary’s partnership journey.
From September 2024, children registered in Reception and Year 1 classes from both schools will attend school at the St Mary’s site and children registered in Year 2 classes from both schools will attend school at The Batt site. Children in Years 3 to Year 6 will continue to attend at The Batt site as usual.
We believe that bringing the earliest education provision to the St Mary’s site, allows us to develop one centre of excellence for early learning within a specialist, well resourced, nurturing and engaging environment and allows for our Year 2 classes to work together in classrooms sharing a dedicated outdoor space, with closer access to the wider primary school environment and opportunities at The Batt site.
Bringing all our Reception and KS1 teachers into closer partnership will create professional pairings allowing greater sharing of best practice, develop our consistent approach to curriculum and bring wider opportunities for all of our infant children.
