Our Teacher - Miss PatonEmma Paton

I am originally from London and I started my career working in marketing after doing a BAHons business degree. After a few years I realised that I  wanted to completely change career and become a teacher. I had always wanted to be a teacher and became very passionate about the idea of supporting children and making a difference so I did a PGCE at Roehampton University. I have been teaching for many years now and the majority of my experience has been in early years and KS1. I absolutely love teaching; no two days are ever the same!

I moved to Witney in early 2016 and both of my children came to St Mary’s. When my eldest child first started in reception, I had the privilege of doing some supply cover for Mrs Wills! A few years later, I became the year 2 teacher and now I am the reception teacher of Grasshoppers.

St Mary’s is such a nurturing and caring place to work and I love working here. We are a very close team and get to know all of the children and parents really well. I am very passionate about books, particularly children's literature and love reading stories. Reception is such a magical year and children's progress is so clear and rewarding. It is such a joy and privilege to teach children how to read and to write and be part of their first experiences at school.

Outside of school, my two children and cockapoo, Loki, keep me very busy. We love to take long walks and enjoy the countryside. I also love to travel and enjoy speaking or learning languages, when I get the opportunity.
